How We Work Together This Work Begins With What Is Already In Place
Community is not another program. It is the way the work is experienced. Whole-child work becomes meaningful when it moves from language into everyday practice. Before adding something new, look at what is already happening and whether it is creating the community you intend.
The goal isn't more training.
The goal is practice that actually changes what people experience.
Community-building lives in classrooms, staff relationships, family partnerships, leadership decisions and the systems connecting them.
Start with where you are.
Strengthen what works.
Identify what is missing.
Build what comes next.
“Susan’s trainings provide context for what trauma is, what causes it, and our role in interacting with one another and how so we can bring people together in community and create space for healing.” -Stephanie, CSUS Instructor, Department of Education & Division Lead, Special Education, Cordova High School, California
Building community cannot become one more thing added to an already overwhelmed staff.
Creative Behavior Systems works alongside people and systems to strengthen regulation, reflection, relationship, repair and belonging. Not by adding another packaged program, but by strengthening the human capacity within the systems already in place.
Support is shaped by your people, your context and what you are trying to build.
Services
From key notes, speaking engagements, staff meetings, workshops, retreats or professional development to long term consulting, our first task is connecting.
School & District Partnerships:
Build the capacity that makes community possible.
Schools already have initiatives, frameworks and systems in place. The challenge is often helping the people within them connect those pieces and bring them into daily practice.
- Staff regulation and nervous system awareness
- Whole child, trauma-aware and restorative practices
- School culture, climate and belonging
- Family and community engagement
- Restorative; proactive and responsive practices including communication, circles, agreements and repair
- Student regulation, voice and accountability
- Leadership reflection and relational capacity
- Integration with existing relational school systems
- Coaching and implementation support
- Internal capacity building by creating implementation partners and teams for sustained practice
- Pre-, ongoing and post-assessment, asset mapping and gap analysis
Partnerships are customized and may include professional learning, hybrid and on-site coaching, leadership consultation, classroom application, family engagement and systems planning.
Not another initiative. Capacity for the initiatives you already have.
Organizational Consulting & Leadership Development:
Culture is created in relationship.
Creative Behavior Systems supports leaders and teams navigating stress, communication, burnout, change and disconnection. The work strengthens the capacity to lead and work together with greater awareness, regulation and relational accountability.

- Reflective leadership and decision-making
- Facilitation, consultation and embedded support
The goal is not simply healthier individuals, but healthier ways of working together.
Communities & Groups:
Connection across difference, is a practice.
Groups and communities need more than shared space to experience belonging. Creative Behavior Systems creates intentional opportunities to strengthen connection, communication and the capacity to stay in relationship through difference, stress and conflict.
- Restorative circles and facilitated dialogue
- Community-building experiences
- Trauma-aware group facilitation
- Communication and repair practices
- Nervous system education and regulation tools
- Customized workshops and gatherings
Speaking Engagements & Keynote:
Ideas that move people toward practice.
Keynotes and presentations translate neuroscience, trauma awareness, restorative practice and human behavior into language people can understand and use.
Presentations can be customized for educators, leaders, families, organizations and community audiences, with topics centered on regulation, behavior, relationships, belonging, repair and human-centered systems.
Events & Experiences:
Open opportunities to experience the work.
Throughout the year, Creative Behavior Systems offers public events and experiences for people who want to engage with the work outside of an organizational partnership.
- Workshops and focused learning experiences
- Somatic and trauma-aware breathwork
- Reflective learning and book studies
- Respite and regulation-focused experiences
- Community conversations and other evolving gatherings
Offerings change throughout the year. Current and upcoming opportunities are featured in the 'Events' carousel on the Home page and in the menu bar.
Partnership & Implementation
For schools and organizations ready to move from intentions to implementation, partnerships can be designed to fit individual needs.
When internal capacity is stretched, I do not hand your team another initiative to manage. I hand carry the work forward alongside your team members.
Together we identify what's already working, connect what's fragmented, address what's getting in the way and build capacity for the work to continue long after our partnership ends.
As needed shortened workshops, speaking engagements, stand alone community building, restorative and trauma aware experiences for staff, students and families also available.
