About Creative Behavior Systems

Committed to Building Safe,

Stable & Nurturing Environments

"Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives." – Bessel A. Van Der Kolk

The Work We Do

Our work is mindful and restorative, focusing on healing trauma, transforming behavior, and fostering systems change. We create connected, aware, and resilient environments.

At Creative Behavior Systems, we are dedicated to creating a culture of collaboration and resilience within your community. Our mission is to acknowledge, learn from, and mitigate the systemic effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma. Through our unique coaching, training, and sustainable development programs, we meet you exactly where you are, helping you foster environments that are connected, aware, and resilient.

Understanding Trauma

The landmark ACEs study by Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlights the profound impact of trauma on health and behavior. Trauma, resulting from painful experiences, can lead to long-lasting adverse effects on an individual’s well-being. At Creative Behavior Systems, we teach sustainable, easy-to-use tools that integrate with current practices, helping to foster resiliency and reduce the impact of trauma.

Our Approach - Designed to Help and Heal

We focus on raising awareness about the prevalence of trauma and our roles within these systems. By understanding the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, we collaborate to see what trauma looks like behaviorally and implement immediate, sustainable tools to address it. Our trauma-informed approach aligns with SAMHSA’s definition of programs, organizations, or systems that understand the root causes of trauma and foster resilient environments for all.

Mission

We empower organizations, educators, leaders, and individuals to build trust and truth in their professional and personal relationships. Our mission is to heal, connect, and reduce inequities through collaborative teachings, workshops, seminars, and sustainable systems of continuous practice.

Vision

In 2011, Susan Jones envisioned improving educational systems often challenged by student behavior. Today, she trains organizations, police departments, juvenile justice systems, district attorneys, schools, and more. Susan has coached hundreds of teachers, leading to reduced inequities, increased engagement, and empowered educators. Her vision grew from a simple Facebook page into a community of organizations, educators, families, and students committed to learning and connection.

What's your work about?

IT'S A SHIFT.

I believe and teach that this work is a daily practice. It's not about checking a box; it's about how and why we communicate and participate. It's about recognizing and dismantling harm within our systems and social norms. This practice enlightens individuals, families, organizations, and communities, providing awareness and tools for change. The hardest part is recognizing that it’s time to shift, and that’s where our work begins.
